News

14 October 2021: The Nebula Centre Project has been conducting internal discussions regarding the future of The Project. As a result of the conclusions reached during these discussions, many of the public facing, interactive services currently available are to be discontinued into the near future. The Project will still exist in some form for the short term, but its long term future is not certain. The Project is recommending anyone actively using services provided by The NCP to seek alternative ones.

09 March 2021: Due to an infrastructure issue, some services may not be available. The Nebula Centre Project anticipates all services to return to normal operation by 12 March 2021.

21 December 2020: The Nebula Centre Project would like to wish a happy holiday season to its guests. In recent months, The Project has made some minor modifications to the content of the web portal. Namely the elimination of third-party "wallpapers" which have no authorial attribution. In addition, the web frontend to the legacy communication service has been removed. Finally, programmes curated as "Applications" in The Nebula Centre Project Curation Service have also been removed. Each of these instances only involves content created by The Nebula Centre Project. Content submitted by parties other than The Nebula Centre Project has NOT been effected. From analysis conducted by The Project, no major disruption to users is foreseen by either of these changes. These modifications will allow The Project to focus on services which provide greater benefit and quality, while reducing overall infrastructure load.

17 August 2020: The Nebula Centre Project has been made aware of the possibility of significant downtime in regards to our services within the next fortnight, due to rolling power outages by the electrical authority local to The Nebula Centre Project's main server. The Project will attempt to provide advanced notice if a power failure is imminent, however The Project has not received such a guarantee from the electrical authority, and as such is unable to provide one to users. Any inquires regarding this notice may be directed to the Network Administrator.

14 July 2020: The Nebula Centre Project is pleased to announce the availability of an encrypted DNS service, provided by The Nebula Centre Project! The Nebula Centre Project values and respects the power of the user. Visit the Service Index to learn more!

11 July 2020: The Nebula Centre Project is excited to announce a new service, The Nebula Centre Project Text Sharing Service! This service allows anyone to share files (specifically text files) with sizes through 512 megabytes. Illegal or visually offending content will be deleted without notice.

14 June 2020: The Nebula Centre Project Privacy Statement has been updated to include information relating to additional services provided by The Project.

11 June 2020: The Service Index has been updated to be more informational as well as increase readability (index ordered alphabetically).
Revision: The service index has also been mobile optimized. The previous revision caused the index to extend past the screen border on smaller devices. The contact page has also been revamped with similar improvements to the Service Index.

10 June 2020: The about page for The Nebula Centre Project has been updated and revised. The old about page did not reflect recent changes to The Project, nor did it highlight the services provided by The Nebula Centre Project. 09 March 2020: The Nebula Centre Project is debuting a new theme for the website. The Project is still assessing the change. Feedback is encouraged and can be directed to the network administrator.

06 March 2020: After much time in testing, The Nebula Centre Project is happy to bring an array of new services to the public. The first of these new services is Nebula Search, a convenient and powerful way to search the web, by using results from over 5 major search engines. The other service being released today is Nebula Cloud. Nebula Cloud is a full featured, independent, cloud platform which includes file storage, a calendar, address book and many other productivity features. Along with the other two services, The Nebula Centre Project is also providing an independent mail service. Currently, Nebula Cloud and The Nebula Centre Project's mail service is only open by request. If you would like an account on either of these services, contact the administrator.

05 March 2020: The Nebula Centre Project is excited to announce a new addition to the curation section, articles! The Nebula Centre Project will be releasing articles produced by members of The Nebula Centre Project. Users can read the newest addition to this curation, an interview with an independent artist and owner of their own record label.

31 December 2019: Happy New Year! The Nebula Centre Project has pushed out one update to the communications service and the privacy statement. The legacy communications system has returned, in a sleeker and faster format. Say farewell to the lag of the CLI-esque old system! The privacy statement has been updated to be more specific with changes as well. The Nebula Centre Project wishes all of its users good fortune in the new year!

17 November 2019: The Nebula Centre Project privacy statement has been updated and can be viewed here. Most of the statement has not been altered, but amendments to the "Communications" article of the statement have been applied to reflect the transition of the primary messaging system to the new messaging system.

29 October 2019: The Nebula Centre Project is excited to present the new communications system. After being in development and integration for much time, the new system is ready. Try it out here. A legacy system is also set for release and will be similar in usage to the previous communications system. Please contact the administrator to express any comments and concerns related to these changes.

26 August 2019: After much time in development, The Nebula Centre Project is excited to present Nebula Draw, the premiere ASCII drawing tool. Along with this news also comes minor improvements to the curation section.

04 July 2019: The nebulacentre.ga domain has been retired and within the next few hours will cease operation. Two new wallpapers have also been added to the wallpaper curation.

12 May 2019: The Nebula Centre Project thanks its guests for being patient between updates. Today marks the start of achieving the final goal of The Nebula Centre Project, a curation service. Although the submission process for content is not automated currently, it will be in the near future. The "Wallpapers" page as well as the "Applications" page have been merged into the curation section, with a new user-interface created for navigating between them. The Nebula Centre Project has also worked to make the new curation section accessible on smaller displays. Other pages have also been optimized and fixed. Please report any issues to the Administrator.

16 March 2019: After many months of development, The Nebula Centre Project has made its first major investment, a paid top-level domain. Over the next few hours, the old domain will be merged to the new domain.

13 March 2019: A slight change to the color scheme of The Nebula Centre Project has been applied, as well as a small cleanup of the website.

11 March 2019: The Nebula Centre Project has implemented a data collection statement, viewable here. This does not change how The Nebula Centre Project treats user information (hence why it is a statement, rather than a policy), rather it is a declaration of what information The Nebula Centre Project has collected and does collect. Due to the recent addition of a interactive page, The Nebula Centre Project decided it would be a good time to share our pro-user privacy belief and how we stand behind it, with our users.

24 February 2019: The Nebula Centre Project would like to apologize for the significant downtime the website has experienced. However this downtime has allowed us to upgrade the current server infrastructure which The Nebula Centre Project operates on and improve the general security of the website. Both of these should improve the user experience, speed and security wise.

18 February 2019: After much time, The Nebula Centre Project is excited to announce the completion of our public communication service! Go check it out here! Along with this service, a new suite of backend software has been added to The Nebula Centre Project. This should allow the site to act more responsive to users, while using less resources. However, if you encounter any errors while browsing Nebula Centre, please contact the administrator.

02 January 2019: Happy New Year (one day off)! The Nebula Centre Project is looking forward to a bright year in the development of The Project. The wallpaper page has, yet again, been improved. Three new wallpapers have been added as well as a new view for the page, allowing guests with larger displays to view more wallpaper previews at once.

25 December 2018: Merry Christmas! The Nebula Centre Project would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. New optimizations have been brought to the wallpaper page. Images previews load much faster now, especially on mobile devices. A new logo has also been selected by The Nebula Centre Project.

02 December 2018: A new "Applications" module has now been added to The Nebula Centre Project. We expect to curate applications from collaborators in the near future.

16 August 2018: The Nebula Centre Project is mobile optimized now! Text is much easier to read on mobile devices and content scales to different screen sizes.

06 August 2018: The Nebula Centre Project has a fully encrypted SSL connection now, courtesy of OpenSSL, Let's Encrypt and the Electronic Freedom Foundation.

31 July 2018: We now have a domain!
